Solar Cancellation in California

Signing a solar contract can feel like a smart move at the moment. But once you look closer, the numbers may not match, and the promised savings can look very different from your actual bills.

California has the most detailed solar consumer protection framework in the country, including AB 1070's Solar Consumer Protection Guide and CSLB oversight.

Cooling-Off Period California provides a 3-business-day cooling-off period on home-solicited sales, extended to 5 business days for seniors age 65 and older.

Solar Consumer Protection Guide Installers must provide the CPUC's Solar Consumer Protection Guide before signing. Missing delivery of the guide is a common basis for complaint.

CSLB Enforcement California requires solar installers to hold a C-46 or C-10 license through the Contractors State License Board. Unlicensed work may be voidable and refundable.

Consumers Legal Remedies Act The CLRA (Civ. Code § 1750) allows rescission, damages, and attorney fees for deceptive practices.

Complaint Filing Complaints can be filed with the California Attorney General, the CSLB, and the CPUC.
